Day at the zoo

This weekend the weather in Manhattan was great so we decided to visit the zoo. And believe it or not, for a college town with a population of only 50,000, the zoo was actually really cool.Anderson enjoyed all of it but his favorite part was the goats. Here, he waits patiently as one of the goats comes over to visit us.The goat was not shy at all and immediately leaned over and began licking us both, causing Anderson to giggly uncontrollably. Each time the stroller stopped this was the look he had as he searched the area to see what kind of animal was in there. He had a great time seeing animals in person that he's only seen in his books.I think this weird looking pig was my favorite. After sliding down the slide with Shelly it was time to go back home. When we got home we followed the example of these monkeys and took a nice family nap.

Vegas wedding weekend

Well, I've only seen my little boy for a total of about 2 hours in the last week. We left for Vegas last Thursday morning and returned Sunday night. Then I left early Monday morning for a conference at Ft. Leavenworth and I'm still here in Kansas City until Friday.

So...since I don't have any recent pics of Anderson you're stuck looking at some pictures Shelly and I took in Las Vegas. We went there to attend a wedding for our friends, J.P. and Nicki. It was the first time Shelly has spent a night away from Anderson. It was tough to leave him but he did great with Shelly's parents and her sister. It sure was exciting to get back home to him though.

This was taken in the limo on the way to the Venetian last Thursday night. Enjoyed a nice dinner with our friends then did some shopping in the resort. Here are some of the things we bought Anderson.Check out this cute girl looking relaxed outside our resort just before the wedding. Here's a few pics from the wedding. It had been 110 degrees on the 3 days prior to this but on this evening it was cloudy and cool.It was a beautiful wedding and we had a great time relaxing at the spa resort for a few days.

9-month pics

Here are the 9-month pictures we had taken a couple of weeks ago. Some of the pictures from my last post didn't save when I posted it so here they are.

When Shelly went to her hometown she also spent some time with her friend Lisa. Now that the boy is so mobile he often finds himself in predicaments like this. And he plays so hard during the day now that he's very tired at night, so much that he sometimes falls asleep while playing like here in his crib. It's been a busy couple of weeks so we're looking forward to some quality time on the lake this weekend.

Day trips and family time

This past weekend we all enjoyed going back to Kansas City for the Royals Military Appreciation Night. In this picture, Anderson looks concerned as the Royals fall behind 2-0 against the Oakland Athletics.A two-run home run by Mike Jacobs brings a smile to his face though.Having his mommy there certainly made things easier than the last time when I took him by myself. The most common comment we get is "that boy is always smiling". Well, in this picture he tries hard not to smile but is still pretty cute trying out his mean face.Shelly had the opportunity to spend some time with her family while I was in Texas a couple of weeks ago.
