After 13 long months on the market, our Kansas City house sold last Wednesday night. Couldn't have come at a better time as we were preparing to begin making two mortgage payments in a couple of weeks (since we now live in Manhattan, KS).
I must admit it's a little bittersweet as we really loved that house. It was the first house I ever owned and we have tons of great memories there. With four bedrooms, three bathrooms and lots of space it has accommodated many visits by family and friends. I bought the house in August 2004 so it's almost unheard of for a military officer to get to spend that long in one place. We also renovated it inside and out so it has always had our personal touch to it.Our closing date is scheduled for June 16th but I think we'll be able to close earlier than that. About a third of our possessions are still there so we'll need to schedule a time to have all that shipped into storage here. Our Manhattan house is already completely set up so besides a few household items, the rest will go into storage until we need it.
We love the area we live in here but still plan to return to Kansas City at some point. We're currently reviewing possible locations for us after we finish our time here (about 2 years from now) and Kansas City is a high possibility.
I'll close with a couple of the first pictures we took of Anderson in the KC house when we brought him home from the hospital. This was taken when we first got home and placed him in his bassinet. And this was taken the next day as the little 5-day old boy enjoyed napping through his first Halloween.I'll post pics later of our visit to Oklahoma this past weekend.
